A respected conductor for theatre, he has led over thirty musicals, from West Side Story and Hello, Dolly! to Evita and Miss Saigon, including the world premieres of The Gershwins’ An American in Paris at Houston’s Alley Theatre and the revised version of Disney’s When You Wish.
As a conductor of dance, he collaborated with Director/Choreographer Matthew Bourne and his critically acclaimed dance company, New Adventures, where he conducted the 10th Anniversary tour of Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake with orchestras throughout the United States and was Music Director for the NYC premiere and subsequent North American tour of Edward Scissorhands. He previously held the position of Assistant Conductor for Nashville Ballet, where he assisted and covered dozens of performances.
Mr. Bryan has conducted the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra and Tennessee Philharmonic’s July 4th Pops Celebration. During his time in Nashville, he was an Assistant Conductor for Nashville Opera, covering and assisting nearly twenty operas. As an advocate for arts education and audience engagement, he has taught master classes and led workshops across the country, working extensively with students in the areas of music and theatre. For Nashville Opera, he also led the company’s education program, taking opera performances into schools and community centers, as well as leading pre-concert discussions and post-show talkbacks with audiences.
Through his company, Opus Blue Productions, he is also a theatre and concert producer, with several projects in various stages of development, including new and exciting symphony pops programs, which will soon be available to orchestras. He is a graduate of the Commercial Theatre Institute, the Broadway theatre industry’s leading training and professional development program.
